Introduction "Malbok" (末伏), which literally means "last dog day," is one of the three hottest summer days, collectively known as the "Sambok." It is the first Gyeong Day (庚日) after "Ipchu."

Period 14 August 2021 (solar calendar) or 7 July (lunar calendar)
Introduction "Chilseok" (七夕), which literally means "the night of sevens," falls on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar. The day celebrates the legend of the annual encounter between Gyeonu (牽牛星) and Jiknyeo (織女星), two planets situated at opposite ends of the galaxy.

National Liberation Day

Introduction "Gwangbokjeol," or National Liberation Day, is held on August 15 as a national holiday to commemorate August 15, 1945, the day on which the country was finally liberated from thirty-five years of Japanese colonial rule.

Introduction "Baekjung" (百中), which means "Buddhist All Soul's Day," falls on the Full Moon Day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar.

Introduction "Cheoseo" (處暑), which means "end of heat," is the fourteenth of the twenty-four seasonal sub-divisions, or solar terms, of the lunar calendar, or the period when the Ecliptic rises to 165° over the horizon.

Introduction "Ipchu" (立秋), which means "the onset of fall," is the thirteenth season of the twenty-four seasonal sub-divisions, or solar terms, of the lunar calendar. The day falls in the seventh month of the lunar calendar or on around August 8 of the solar calendar.
