About the Children’s Museum

Since its opening in 2003, the Children’s Museum of National Folk Museum of Korea has served as an educational space where children and their families can explore the folklore and lives of Koreans from the past to present.

We offer visitors fabulous opportunities to experience a wide range of hands-on exhibitions, educational programs and playful spaces focusing on the rich Korean folklore.

Through fun activities, diverse games and hands-on experiences at the Children’s Museum of National Folk Museum of Korea, visitors are offered an inclusive museum experience which enables them to understand and discover the Korean culture as well as the cultures of the world.

We offer children-centric
hands-on type exhibitions.

The permanent exhibition halls organize various exhibitions on the theme of Korean folk tales, enabling children to understand and experience our ancestor’s lifestyle and wisdom.

In addition, the content of our exhibitions is also developed by taking in account children’s interests and timeliness, including cultural diversity; games; nature; communication, and provide a journey to find their uniqueness within universality.

This gives children the strength to grow and respect each other as members of society.

We run diverse educational programs.

Our educational are broadly segregated under the following categories: school group programs; family programs; vacation programs; special programs and programs connected with our exhibitions.

Furthermore, we also operate outreach programs for children who lack easy access to museums. The museum also has an exhibition bus that displays artifacts and related materials for children. The bus visits local schools and museums to meet children.

We promote various exchanges
by supplementing the
contents of the children’s museum.

We develop and distribute diverse online contents for children by collecting and preserving materials designed for and related with children. Aiming to become a museum for children all over the world, we are striving to promote exchange and collaborate with children’s museums in and outside the country in order to offer children rich experiences in various domains including exhibition, archives and education.
