Anchae is the space for women.
Outsiders could not enter the anbang, and even the men in the family could not go in and out of the anbang freely. For this reason, an anbang was built in the most inner part of the house where it could not be seen from outside and even from the main gate. Anchae was the place where the lady of the house, who took care of the entire housekeeping, prepared meals, clothing and blankets for her family. It was also also a place for mothers to nurtured her children who will carry on the family name.
